The Day After Tomorrow

As disaster movies go there is always one thing that sticks out in your mind that leaves you scratching your head. In the 1997 disaster movie Dante's Peak we saw our boy 007 drive over lava.... although it had got a little hard, he still managed to drive over it. Impossible. In the movie Amrageddon, we simply get Ben Affleck in space. In The Day After Tomorrow, no matter how cold it gets, we really never see anyone's breath. It gets so cold at one point we see instance freeze. Yet no breath. That is my only problem with this movie. It is an awesome movie and in today's world a little risky as well. I mean it hasn't even been three years since New York lost two important towers so destroying New York might not be the best thing. However, it works and after what happened to L.A. [img]eek.gif[/img] That was messed up.

I don't want to give away to much so this review sucks, but go see it, it is a fun little two hours.

I couldn't make it to Day After Tomorrow, but I did get to see "Mean Girls" last night and it was much better than I thought it would be. I knew it would be hot, but it actually had a little more sophistication to it than I would have expected.

I wanted to go see Day After Tomorow but when I learned that Al Gore is singing its praises and it is just loaded with political innuendo taking stabs at the Bush administration I decided against it. I refuse to fund their agenda...

Shrek 2 was great.

Probably go see "the day after tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. Or maybe tomorrow, or maybe even the day before tomorrow which would be today. HUH?

Actually, I do want to go see it, probably sometime this week.

I know this is an election year, but I don't think I've ever seen a movie get railed as much in the political context at TDAT. I'm sure I'll see it at some point (if not in the theater, surely on video) and I will probably enjoy the special effects. It may be short on plotline, but if that's the case, then it will be akin to Godzilla.

Yes, movies can make political statements, and maybe this one does. But I have never liked (or disliked) a movie based on its politics. "Vanilla Sky" is neither liberal nor conservative, it's just crap.

And I see all these science geeks on Fox News complaining about how TDAT could never occur. I got news for you, "Mean Girls" couldn't occur, either, but there's no denyin' how many hot chicks were in it....
